My parents, being retired, have decided that they need a break from catching up on all the things they ment to do before they retired, and are going on vacation for two weeks at The Sea Ranch, and on short notice. This would normally be cause for me to post that I'd be going with them and being terminally bored or staying here in SoCal to take care of the dog. However, there is now a new option for me, since my girlfriend happens to live on the way to said vacation destionation. So, I'll be crashing there for two weeks, (un)fortunatly this means my evenings online will be a bit curtailed (having better things to do), but most of my games are cancelled anyway, so no huge loss there.

So, yesterday I got a BED WEDGE™ which is a big fluff inclined plain pillow so I could sleep with my head elevated, and not have to take a couch to do so. As anybody who has ever shared a room/bed with me knows I roll over constantly if there's room to do so, which there isn't on the couch I was using. But with the wedge I was back on my own twin long and well. Rolling over and sleeping on my side probably wasn't so great for my back or my jaw, but damn if I didn't spend the best part of 14 hours asleep.

I feel much more alert for it, but feeling alert while on pain meds does not actually equal actual alertness or cognitivity. So if I'm a bit slow to pick up on other people's April Fool's tomfoolery, well, at least I was awake to see it, right?

Horray! No horrible allergic reactions, no holes in my sinues or broken jaw and absolutly no dead! Which pretty much covers everything I could worry about going into getting my wisdom teeth out. I'm on some pretty strong painkillers though, which is good, I don't particularly want to feel like I've got four extra holes in my head, but it also means that I spend a great deal of time spaced out and/or asleep. So I had to wait for them to wear off a bit (to the point that I was aware the pain, but only as a minor incovience, to trust myself to be lucid enough to make this post.

I doubt I'll be online much tomorrow, and who knows about Friday, but for right now I'm just glad to be here.

-waiting for the new pill to kick in,
RDM

Random disorganized ramblings

<ljcut text="ramblings, like it says in the title!">
My Brother: You know, Wachowski brothers need to make a Western with Matrix style effects...
Me: Only without any Jesus refrences, at al- Hey wait, Reboot already did that.
My brother: They did?
Me: Yeah, the best episode ever: The Episode With No Name.
My brother: Uh... I don't...
Me: Gun: Deathblossom Mode.
My brother: Oh... OH! Right.

So yeah, he's here for a week, borrowing my car and my computer and that's cool.
What's not so cool is that next week I'm trying to get my wisdom teeth out for the third time and hoping I don't have a horrible life threatening allergic reaction to anything this time. And while I'm normaly a pretty, okay, extreemly laid back kind of guy I can feel my stress levels going up and it's not so fun. Mostly my body wants more sleep, but I've also, as anybody who's tried to talk to me in the past few days has probably noticed turned into an EVEN BIGGER flake than normal.

Also, had a sort of nifty dream last night that was part text, part PS1 ere low poly count RPG.

There was this evil/not evil because it's fate and somebody has to do it, but still enjoys her job waay too much witch who had to raise and train the great heroes and villains of the ages. One of the characters was this super nice kid, but everywhere he went distruction followed in the form of a pillar of black energy. It only moved at a walking pace, but if he got too far ahead of it it'd start taking the shortest path between itself and him and he had to sleep on this rotating hammock thing that moved at the same speed as the pillar. Another character was well This character with This characters fasion sense. She was supposed replace the witch at some point in the future, but when the time came she wasn't ready yet... so the witch told the laws of conservation of energy, and all the rest of physics to go screw themeselves and sent the character back in time so she could finish teaching her. ... Interactions between the two versions of the character were weird to watch the older one would give cryptic pieces of advice or pieces of equipment and I think she was getting graded on how well she didn't tell her younger self what was going to happen.

It's late, I'm tired, and I'm sick...

I also feel the need to rant about EQ2.

Or at least one player of said game.

I wound up in a Crucible group that was half Red Welkin, a new and up and coming raid guild on the server, including their conjuror. This guy. I took one look at him and his mythical pet and went Welp, I'm gonna get my ass kicked on the parse. Just from that one item alone he should have 2k dps on me, and he's got pieces of his tier two shard armor and one piece of the raid set and holy shit this is nice. Then I looked at his jewelry, which had a lot of spell crit on it, but not much reuse or pet buffs. But I shrugged. Maybe when you're raiding you don't need to buff the already uber pet more.

And then we entered the zone.

I knew something was wrong when, on the first group pull, all the mobs ran past the tank and started wailing on on the pet. The tank blamed it on his lag and I resolved to give him a second or two to get hate before opening up. Not my rival conj. Not him. He'd send his pet in before the mobs got to the tank. But, it's a mythical pet. It's got more HP and mitigation than he and I combined and a raid geared templar has enough raw healing power to keep the pet with two mobs on it, the tank with one mob on it, and at least two people wearing chokers mostly in the yellow.

We wiped once, but other than that, fairly throughly ripped the zone a new one. Even when I was on the wrong side of a room getting quest updates when the fights started. We said our thankyous and ran around clicking on things for quests and then... then I went to look at the parse to see if there was anything this raiding conj in gear that's mostly superior to mine could teach me...

I consider myself to be a slightly above average player of the conjuror class. I'm far from perfect and I know a lot of my own bad habbits, but I study the guids put out by the friendly raiding conjies and test my gear and such. I've got a fairly good grasp of the basics (pre-buff pet, wait for pull, send pet in, spam fast spells and then rotate in others while waiting for them to refresh.) That's the easy stuff. Knowing which spells to cycle in, knowing not to use the long recast spells near the end of the fight, that stuff I'm not so good at.

... This guy.

... This guy.

He... well, look at it this way. I was expecting him to outparse me by 3-5 THOUSAND damage per second just based on his gear alone.

Only...

He suck eggs and being a conjuror.

He beat me by 1.2k. Half of that HALF of that was a single proc of a piece of gear I'm saving up to buy. He wasn't spamming the right spells. He had his damage shield up on the tank. (This is counter intuitive, but the reason this is bad is that the damage shield gives hate to the conjuror instead of the tank, and when the tank is trying to body pull it can social agro problems.) He wasn't using his melee proc on the melee chars (I know because I had mine on them) His casting order is simply atrocious. But, because of his gear, he did more damage than I did and the fact that he kept screwing up and sending his pet in too early didn't matter because his pet could both take the hits and cause more damage than him. (51% if I'm adding this right, I'm sitting at 28%)

Anyway, I'm absolutly boggled and all the people who I want to talk to about this are asleep.

I got a very, very nice item out of the zone, but I'm just boggling at the incompetence of this player. It just goes to show ... something. I'm not sure what. Maybe I should start beliving people when the say I'm actually pretty good at the class.

DAMN YOU IRONY!!! DAMN YOU!!! *FISTSHAKE*

So, I promised that I'd finally explain enigmatic posts from earlier in the year next post; I lied.

Instead I'm going to vent about this morning, although venting about this morning starts around 9:30 last night just after I decided that I'd done enough procrastinating and should finish my English homework 12 hours before class started. This was also the time that Dre decided that he'd had enough of Ard being sick, numb, and lethargic, so, I being the only other person in the house with a drivers licence and the knowladge that Ard's heath > my grades volunteered to drive them to the emergancy room. 5 hours later it was far too early in the morning and Ard didn't have strep, and if she was still feeling this way in a week she should come back. Also, thanks to watching the weather channel for five hours, we knew that the area was due for a few inches of snow and my car had iced over. During this time I talked to Dre about just skipping my 9:30 English class.

I checked for canceled classes when I got home, saw none and did my home work.

I slept.

I woke up and checked for canceled classes and saw none.

I scraped out my car, checked for canceled classes, and saw none.

I bought gas, drove to school on black ice (only slipped once!) and found my English class canceled.

...

... ANGER LIKE A BEEDOG WHAT IS FULL OF BEEDOGS THAT ARE MADE OF SMALLER BEEDOGS!!

I COULD HAVE GOTTEN MORE THAN 4 HOURS OF SLEEP THIS MORNING WRAARRGH!

Oh, and on that note I'm off to devour brains like the sleep deprivation zombie I am.

Ganked from World+dog

I'm technically taking it twice here with two sets of five because I'm a) insane b) have too many incarnations of Taki because well... see a)

Group 1) All Taki, all the time!
Arcana-Taki: The original, a character I spent too long trying to match personalities and powers for and as
such had a lot of ideas left over. She's the Knight of Cups, bi-curious, and a Japanese high-school
student.

S.A.B. Taki: The original, only older, more powerful and clinically depressed. Also wound up with a kid
because of SCIENCE!! and you can't argue with SCIENCE!!

W.N.N.-Taki: What happens if you take away everything somebody loves? What happens where there is
no hope left for redemption? What happens when a player thinks up a power-set his char wouldn't
use under normal conditions? She's stuck on another planet now.

Tim: The aforementioned kid. He's working for the British Home For Incompetent Super Heroes, also
known as the Supernatural Affairs Branch. Also dating a demon.

Ana: In another place, in another time, leading another life with another name... but can you ever truly
escape yourself? This is the life of Ana, a street punk from New Jersey. This is her story.

Group 2) A random assortment of others.
Ten2: A possessed doll who worked for the British Government as part of an undercover group of
vigilantes dedicated to saving the world and/or just getting paid on time. Now she's sold her
likeness back to her original manufacturer and is living the high-life. In cyberspace that is.

Yushiro Hida: Big, Strong, Smarter than he gives himself credit for. It's his clans duty to protect the empire
from horrible creatures from behind.

Neisis: A geneticaly-unstable life-form created to defend humanity from... something the records aren't
exactly clear why her race was made, but she'll live every moment she can.

Terry Phelps: Moved to Key West with his parents from California, spends his time with his best friend
forever Meri playing games, roller blading around, and trying to protect the environment.

Keika: An enigmatic and blind pirate from a post apocalyptic future.

Boy or girl?
A-Taki: ...Girl?

S-Taki: ...I'm... a bit old... to call a girl.

W-Taki: *flatly* Girl.

Tim: Guy. The only guy in this section. Oh shit, I'm surrounded by crazy people AND THEY'RE ALL MY
MOM!?

Ana: Girl. Is there something wrong with your damn eyes?

Ten2: Well, like my bod's totally girl shaped, but, like, I don't have any of the naughty bits that'd make me a
girl. If I could choose I'd totally be one though! Eating is awesome!

Yushiro: *grunts in confusion* Boy.

Neisis: *Smiles* Girl.

Terry: Totally boy.

Keika:*edges away from Ten* Woman, female; I've never been young enough to be called a girl.

How old are you?
A-Taki: I'm sixteen.

S-Taki: ... Thirtyfo... wait... why am I answering this?

W-Taki: *points at A-Taki* Same as her. It's nearly been a year... I have to get back.

Tim: I'm two years older than my mom, this is so screwed u... I mean I'm four years older. Yeah.

Ana: *eyes Tim* Nineteen.

Ten2: Well, like, It's either twenty-one or one-hundred-and-twenty-one, depending on how you're counting.
My internal clock's kinda wonky.

Yushiro: *grunts to stall for time and looks up while he tries to remember* Aha! Nineteen!

Neisis: I'm not sure. I know what it is in ticks, but I can't convert that to your years without asking Denal to
help and it's... *lowers her voice* bad at that sort of thing.

Terry: Still fourteen.

Keika: Old enough to know better than to answer this question.

What's your height?
A-Taki: 150 cm, I'm short, I know.

S-Taki: ... Five feet.

W-Taki: 153 cm.

Tim: Five-seven. *eyes S and W Takis* Aaand the extra psycho version of my mom's taller than the one
that is my mom. Must be one of those weird alternate universe things.

Ana: Five-four, gotta problem with that? Huh?

Ten2: one-six! I've totally got all of you beat on shortness!

Yushiro: Six feet and one inch! *grins* That's what she says anyway. *points at Ten* Ten: I am the
incredible math!

Neisis: I'm the same height he is, and the inverse of the doll. Ten: Told ya, incredible math o/~

Terry: 'bout five-five. Unless I hit a growth spurt when I wasn't looking, you know?

Keika: Six feet and bit less without the boots.

Are you a virgin?
A-Taki: *blushes* Y-yes.

S-Taki: *turns faintly pink* .... Wh-what kind of a question is that? And... no.

W-Taki: No.

Tim: Hell no!

Ana: *rolls her eyes* No, I'm not a damn virgin.

Ten2: Yep! No naughty bits!

Yushiro: *grunts and proudly shakes his head*

Neisis: I am, it'd be to too dangerous to risk.

Terry: I'm way way way way way way way times infinity too young.

Keika: Here's some math for you Ten: 3 women plus 22 men, divided by one submarine equals?
Ten: Ewww!

Do you have any kids?
A-Taki: *eyes widen* N-no!

S-Taki: ... Tim.

W-Taki. I'm going to pretend I didn't just hear you ask that.

Tim: Oh fuck no.

Ana: I'm with him.

Ten2: I've had a, you know, toy line that looks just like me for, like, twenty years! Does that count?
*Keika shudders*

Yushiro: *grunts happily* Not yet, maybe soon.

Neisis: *shakes her head* It's usually bad if we Newmen try to reproduce without proper supervision. My
parents got lucky I wasn't born with an extra head, or without one or something else horribly wrong.

Terry: Dood, I'm just a kid!

Keika: No, unlike some people I'm not going to name, I know how to use protection.

What's your favorite food?
*All the Takis, but not in synch* Sushi.

Tim: Pizza, so there!

Ana: Calzone. *gives Tim a superior look*

Ten2: Well, like, I don't eat, 'cause I'm not technically alive, you know? But when I was, CHOCOLATE was
the best food ever!

Yushiro: *more grunting to stall for time* There were these fish cakes...

Neisis: I don't know, sorry.

Terry: Pizza's awesome, an' stuff.

Keika: *sounding distracted* Mhm? Oh anything's fine.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
A-Taki: Right now... I like green tea.

S-Taki: ... Vanilla.

W-Taki: I've got better things to do than sit around eating ice cream.

Tim: One vote for Rocky Road as the best ice cream ever.

Ana: Neapolitan, what? You got a problem with that too?

Ten2: Cho-co-late! Duh.

Yushiro:*very very confused grunting until Ten starts whispering to him* Chocolate is the best?

Neisis: Tangerine-lime was good, but so was the cinnamon, it's all good!

Terry: No way, Key lime by itself'd be a million times better.

Keika: *Smiles as she picks something different from the doll* Bourbon.

Have you killed anyone?
A-Taki: N-no... I tried, but I ... I don't think that counts.

S-Taki: *nods slightly* I have... I have ... to go now.

W-Taki: *glowers* Not enough of the right people.

Tim: Hey, if I can't run, you don't get to either mom. Sheesh, and I haven't killed anybody completely on
purpose.

Ana: Look, it was a fucking accident, okay? He fell on the fucking knife!

Ten2: Nope! I mean, I was there when some people died but they were all baddies and I only hurt them. So
it's all okay!

Yushiro: *looks sad* Some people can't be reasoned with.

Neisis: Being a hunter sort of implies killing, doesn't it?

Terry: Nope, nu-uh, no way. No killing people here. That's wrong an' stuff.

Keika: It's hard to get a reputation for dread piracy without leaving a few hundred corpses to dye the seas
red, don't you think? The tricky bit's leaving enough of them alive that they risk it again.

Do you hate anyone?
A-Taki: *nods* Tenj... a few people.

S-Taki: *winces and nods*

W-Taki:Three people, one of them's already dead.

Tim: Yeah.

Ana: The whole fucking world.

Ten2: PKing gankers! Oh, and people trying to destroy the world! They've totally gotta go down!

Yushiro: *grunts angrily and shakes his fist* Ten2: That means Fuun's going dooowwwn o/~

Neisis: No, not really. There's some people I don't like, but I don't have the time to waste hating them.

Terry: Nope, why'd I do a bogus thing like that for?

Keika: Was I ever that young?

Have any secrets?
A-Taki: I... still haven't told my dad... about the whole Arcana thing.

S-Taki: *mumbles something incoherent*

W-Taki: I don't care anymore.

Tim: *rolls his eyes* Duuh.

Ana: Why the fuck would I tell you?

Ten2: Yep! I like playing surprises on people! It's totally fun and awesome!

Yushiro: *grunts and looks troubled until he suddenly grins* I can't tell you!

Neisis: My life is an open book. Well, except for the things I don't even know about it, but they're secrets
from me too.

Terry: Nadda.

Keika: *just smiles enigmatically*

Do you love anyone?
A-Taki: I... it's ... one sided.

S-Taki: *nods* Yes.

W-Taki: *flatly* I loved.

Tim: I wouldn't call it love, but the sex is fantastic!

Ana: *tries to kill Tim with the power of her mind; she's not very successful.*

Ten2: We're talking platonically, right? 'Cause if so I love lots of people, but I'm not gonna get married to
nobody!

Yushiro: *Grunts Happily* Ten2: That means he loves his wife!

Neisis: Not really, no.

Terry: Ew, no.

Keika: Ask yourself, self, would she really tell me the answer to this question, do I want to even risk
knowing the answer? But, I'll say Aria, just to fuck with her.

What is your job?
A-Taki: I'm a first year high school student.

S-Taki: ... Pro-athlete.

W-Taki: Murderer.

Tim: Genuine Secret Agent.

Ana: *shifty eyes* Pizza girl.

Ten2: Professional hacker, fashion plate, and Vice-president of Awesome at Anrin Industries LLC.

Yushiro: *thumps his chest proudly* The Crab defend the wall!

Neisis: I'm a Jumper now, we travel around and do odd jobs.

Terry: Jr. High student, but I wanna be an astronaut when I grow up!

Keika: The dread pirate Keika, at your service. *bows with a flourish*

Any powers or weapons?
A-Taki: I... can teleport, and make fields sometimes.

S-Taki: We ... teleport ... fields ... freeze things.

W-Taki: How come I didn't get a field? It'd make the whole fucking thing easy!

Tim: I got gypped, just the teleporting, and not even as far as any of you.

Ana: There's a reason they call me Knives.

Ten2: Oh oh! I can talk to other machines because I'm awesome!

Yushiro: *hoists up his tetsubo with another proud grunt.*

Neisis: I've got my mothers photon claw, and I was supposed to learn magic, but we had to leave before
my training started and there's no point in teaching me if I'm not
going to live long enough to get where we're going.

Terry: Nope not a thing.

Keika: I have an entire fleet of pirate subs at my beck and call, if you wish to liv... sorry, getting ahead of
myself.

What do you do to relax?
A-Taki: I cook... I think I'm pretty good.

S-Taki: I ... travel.

W-Taki: I don't, didn't relax much. The bath was relaxing.

Tim: Wild and crazy sex.

Ana: *twitches* I ride.

Ten2: I play MMOs

Yushiro: *grunts and thumps his tetsubo on the ground* The Crab know how to throw a party!

Neisis: I listen to music and talk with the rest of the crew.

Terry: I play card games? Wanna play Yu-Gi-Oh with me?

Keika: No, sorry, I've already beaten your girlfriend up with your deck. :Terry: Huh?

What do you think your life expectancy is?
A-Taki: I... don't know. Tomorrow maybe.

S-Taki: I... I... don't ... like to think about it.

W-Taki: Long enough to kill the fake Katie.

Tim: I'm gonna live forever, just not by selling my soul to Yvonne.

Ana: Fucked if I know.

Ten2: Forever and a day!

Yushiro: *grunts determinedly* :Ten: That means as long as he can defend the wall for.

Neisis: Every day is a miracle, isn't that enough?

Terry: Dunno, maybe people'll live to a hundred in the future, that'd be awesome, ya know?

Keika: Short, but I'll survive.

What is your opinion of the opposite sex?
A-Taki: I... like to think it's the person, not the body that matters.

S-Taki: Satoshi's too good to me.

W-Taki: Self-centered assholes. All of them.

Tim: Yes please. Also, he's so leaving you mom. *S-Taki starts to cry, Tim rolls his eyes.*

Ana: Mostly useless, but then you get the sharp ones.

Ten2: I don't have an opposite sex because I'm awesome like that!

Yushiro: *grins and grunts softly* Ten: He likes the ones with big boobies! *Yushiro blushes.*

Neisis: I shouldn't have thoughts like that.

Terry: They're kinda weird, except Meri, she's cool, you know?

Keika:	Insatiable pigs, much like my own gender, only without the subtlety.

Now what are you going to do?
A-Taki: I... think I'm going to die to save the world... I hope there's some other way.

S-Taki: ... I... I don't know.

W-Taki: I'm going to get home, kill the fake Katie, and then kill myself.

Tim: *shrugs* Dunno.

Ana: I'm gonna gut that fucking bat, who cares if this is his place?

Ten2: Make oodles of money and have fun! It's what I do every night!

Yushiro: *grunts determinedly* Ten: Defend the wall, no matter what!

Neisis: I'm going to live until I can't.

Terry: Uh, maybe, like, get a juice on the way home?

Keika: You'll know in... oh, three hours, give or take.

What is something you would never say?

A-Taki: Do you think Katie could use a little more salt, Saki?

S-Taki: Right, enough of this nonsense, Satoshi? We're getting married now, and stop being such a damn
brat Tim.

W-Taki: Sure Sheila, I'll let you feel me up some more.

Tim: You know Aunt Katherine, you were right, I'm sorry.

Ana: Oh dear, what ever shall I do?

Ten2: I hate you all and I want to die!

Yushiro: An excellent theory Risa, but I think you'll find that the Tao disagrees.

Neisis: Just wait till you see me at the reunion!

Terry: I hate this game! I hate you! I hate everything! Nobody understands!

Keika:

*edited because I stuck the wrong words in the wrong chars mouth.

Good news and bad news

I should be working right now, but I can't. SoCal's on fire. SoCal is very much HOLY FUCK HURICANE FORCE WINDS + BRUSH FIRE ========= BAD END ON FIRE, and my parents live within 20 miles of two of the fires.

The good news is that at least one of the firebomber pilots has balls made of solid titanium. And my parents haven't been evacuated yet.

I'm not going to start this post off by saying this week has sucked, because it hasn't; Sunday was a great day, Monday was fun... However, Tuesday blew goats and today has been a downgrade to ugly, smelly, and angry goats.
It's just that one of the classes I have fun in got cancled yesterday because the power went out at the school and in the finest traditions of post-modern archetecture they decided that they didn't need windows in the classrooms because they had these new fangled electric lights.
It's just that I started nodding off in the middle of playing one of my 'smart' characters.
It's just that I had a dream about waking up this morning.
It's just that I was late to my 9 AM English class.
It's just that that was the third tardy after two absense.
It's just that 4 was the total number of those combined you can have before the teacher flunks you.
It's just that I forgot my 3-D teacher had a confrence today.
It's just that part of my clay bust broke when somebody else moved it.

Usualy I can just smile and shrug and say "Such is life" there's always tommorrow, and there still will be, I just don't feel like smiles right now.
I just want today over with.

So...

On Monday my parents realized that they forgot to rent a car to take to the airport on Tuesday and I volunteered to drive them. I figured, hey, an excuse to go visit haunts in The Valley I haven't visited in forever and hit the Fry's in Burbank, which is an old syle Fry's, as opposed to what I've dubbed the New-Fry's. Which are compleatly identicle cloned stores with actual customer service, it's an abobination I tell you. Anyway, I discovered that I realy should have made sure that more of the stores I planned to visit, you know, still existed. It's a pain in the ass to drive for an hour and a half to get to a shopping center only to discover that the bookstore you planned to visit is now a clothing store in progress, and to find the anime store's entire building is under new managment and they kicked ALL the tenants out to remodle. Which is kinda hilarious given that the GoodGuys was under construction for months to remodle before I left. Somewhere along the line I stopped for a beef bowl. Also Anime Plus still exists! Yay, they even got me my fix of cractackular Shoujo Manga On todays episode of As The WTF turns Mokoto takes up cross dressing when it's revealed that her incestiously obsessed older sister isn't dead, just shipped off to relatives after getting hit by a car and developing amnesia.

I starded not feeling so great so I drove home and started to read, got interupted by a rather urgent and unpleasant trip to the bath room, vowed to not eat at that restruant again as soon as I remembered what the name was, and got back to reading. At some point it seemed lik a realy good idea to take a nap.
When I woke up I had several questions to answer, like:
Why am I sleeping on the couch?
Why is it dark?
Why don't I care that ND's going to kill me for having just slept through his game?
What's on TV?
Why does it all suck?
Did I finishing reading this?
Why did I just wake up again?
How fast should I run for the bathroom?

Wednesday was like that too, only without the bathrom breaks and much more randomly falling asleep. I usualy don't take naps, they're usualy, like, once every two months occorances. I think I got a decade's worth of catnaps in.

Today's a bit better, but I've still just gotten back from the <s>twelfth</s> fourteenth or so interuption of my writing this and I'm still tired, but I also ate something today.

*deleates rant about RPchars because he's totaly lost coherancy and is tangenting*
I'm gonna call it here.
